Waste Disposal

Facilities for yachtsmen's landed waste are provided at various landing points around the harbour to help you dispose of your waste responsibly.

Lymington Harbour Commissioners provide waste disposal and glass recycling facilities at the bridge head to the Dan Bran pontoon and in a separate bin store within the visitor washroom building at Town Quay. The latter requires a key code to gain access, which is available through your booking confirmation or from harbour staff.

Lymington Harbour Commissioners encourage all vessels to segregate their waste and recycle where possible.

International Catering Waste

Your food waste (and anything contaminated by the waste, for example a milk carton) is considered ICW if your vessel (except fishing vessels) has travelled from outside the territorial waters (12 nautical miles) of the UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man, even if you stocked up for the entire journey in the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man. In order to prevent outbreaks of notifiable diseases like foot and mouth disease you are required to dispose of this waste separately from domestic, general waste.

If you need to dispose of ICW please let the Harbour Office know. We will provide you with a bin bag which we would ask you to seal the ICW in. Please give the sealed bag to one of our River Staff who will take it to a separate container for specialist disposal or you may bring it to the yard by appointment.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Sewage Discharge & Pump Out Facilities

The water quality of the Lymington River estuary is extremely important to Lymington Harbour Commission and it is an offence under the Lymington Harbour 2014 General Directions to discharge pollutants into the harbour.

When in the harbour, crew of moored craft without holding tanks should use the shore side washroom facilities provided. For boats with holding tanks, a sewage pump out facility is available at the Lymington Yacht Haven refuelling berth - call 01590 677071.

Further information and education on the harmful effects discharging sewage is available HERE.
