Boat Wash

LNTM 5 of 2022

Each season we receive reports of powered craft passing unnecessarily close to small craft and sailing dinghies without due consideration for the effects of their wash and the risks this can pose.

While creating excessive wash within harbour limits is a breach of the General Directions 2014 and may result in prosecution, the same hazards also apply outside of harbour waters.

All boat owners are asked to exercise good seamanship by keeping a lookout, and moderating speed and wash where small boats are likely to be impacted.

This notice replaces LNTM No 07/2020 which is cancelled.
