Incident Reporting Guidance

Incidents may include navigation related incidents (i.e. collisions, groundings or near miss), pollution, or theft or damage. Where crime is suspected details should also be reported to the Police. To report an incident, please click below to download our online PDF Incident Report Form.

Completed forms should be forwarded to Lymington Harbour Commissioners, Harbour Office, Bath Road, Lymington, Hampshire, SO41 3SE. Alternatively, please call in at the Harbour Office where a member of our team will assist you.

Completing the Incident Report

In order to aid any investigation, the earlier the incident is reported the better and it is a requirement of the Lymington Harbour General Directions 2014 that all collision incidents are reported within 24 hours. Early reporting will allow witnesses or those involved to recount the incident while it is still fresh in their minds. It may also allow CCTV footage to be viewed which is only retained for a limited period of time before it is over written.

When completing the Incident Report Form please provide as much information as possible including your contact details and details of any witnesses to the incident.

For navigation incidents please describe the sequence of events leading up to the incident including details of vessel/s course and position, speed, avoidance action taken, and details of the tide and weather conditions. Please also state why you think the incident happened.
