Lymington Harbour Commission (LHC) is committed to achieving high standards of environmental protection through a framework of setting and reviewing environmental objectives and targets relating to conservation, regulation and management of the harbour.

Much of the harbour lies within or adjacent to important protected habitats, collectively known as the  Solent European Marine Sites. 

The Management Scheme for the Solent sites is referred to as the ‘Solent European Marine Site’ (or SEMS) Management Scheme. LHC is part of the management group with the secretariat being provided by the Solent Forum.
