Recent Legislation
As recommended in Ports Good Governance Guidance and the Port Marine Safety Code, Lymington Harbour Commissioners keeps legislation under review to ensure it remains fit for purpose.
The most recent review took place in 2014 and LHC's legislation was updated through the Harbour Revision Order (The Lymington Harbour Revision Order 2014) which came into force in May 2014. This legislation had the following effects:-
It clarified the limits of the harbour within which the Commissioners exercise jurisdiction as a harbour authority.
It gives authority to make regulations (General Directions) for the purpose of promoting or securing safe and harmonious use of the harbour and the protection of the environment.
It gives powers to regulate and licence water taxi services and sets out the information required for the purposes of landing charges.
It updated the Commissioners powers to save and borrow money.
